Crane wars!

Posted in Interesting, Uncategorized on August 23, 2011 by Michael Moss

Got challenged to a tiny crane war by a friend on Facebook. I’m going to call it a draw at this point; however, if she can fold a crane from smaller than a 1/4″ square piece of paper then I’ll accept defeat gracefully. Below are some pictures of the tiny tiny cranes.

One of the smallest origami cranes I’ve ever made.

One of the things I love to do is fold incredibly small cranes. The smallest I’ve ever done was created from a piece of paper 1/4″ square. The final crane looked uncomfortably close to a spitball. This one is from a piece of paper just a hair over 3/8″ square. It photographs better and looks crisper than the smaller one. It also has the added feature that I can fold it with my fingers and not a magnifying glass and toothpicks.

If you hadn’t seen this, myself and some friends of mine just completed an animation starring the mighty and terrible Cthulhu in his version of the Old Spice ad. Many thanks to Jace, Jack, Linda, Sam and the elder god himself! You can view it here and don’t forget to purchase a great looking Sanity Roll tshirt as well!

Photo blogs…

I’m really digging several photo blogs right now. Notably Scouting New York and English Russia. I used to live in NYC and love to see all the interesting places that I sometimes have been to or passed by.

Speaking of NYC, I recently got an email back from the incredible Rev. Billy about a picture I sent him of my character Nate from Quitting Time. I have an upcoming cartooning project in which I might make the good Rev. a character in when next Christmas rolls around again. I wish my Church would have Rev. Billy come to speak. That would be awesome!
